INTERDISCIPLINARITY

The Center manages joint and interdisciplinary research projects with enterprises and Institutions.n

  • surpassing the approach based on agreements between company and single department, enriched subsequently with the participation of other skills coming from other departments of the University;
  • developing integrated and coordinated collaboration agreements - that directly involve the adherents Departments - presenting themselves in homogeneous form and connected towards outside as a point of access to the wide and diversified panorama of University' capacity of research.

INTERDISCIPLINARITY

Phenomena of contemporaneity can be interpreted by bringing back to the analysis of complex systems that, being characterized by a multiplicity of dimensions, not all known and evident and of which we have difficult to understand the effects of interactions, are defined in terms of multidimensionality.

The drive to operate on themes circumscribed to the contingent to meet specific and punctual issues, which constitute the main needs of companies, is a powerful push for mono-disciplinary research with a strong specialist focalization.

From a multidimensional view, the mono-disciplinary approach is not able to interpret the context under study and requires an action of combining of more disciplines in which the different sciences and different areas of study are to contribute, each for their own part, to understanding, to the analysis of the phenomenon and to the subsequent definition of the paths to face it. Nevertheless, with multidisciplinarity there certainly have a plurality of observation and analysis points, but there is a risk of parallel and "discrete" readings of the phenomenon, often organized according to a verticalisation of the different contributions.

So, a strong "inter-action" is needed, an interdisciplinary group made up of researchers trained in different fields of knowledge, guided by a common commitment to address issues and topics research related to a shared problem. Each must cultivate its discipline at the highest level, then managing to go beyond the specific contribution of his disciplinary area, not limiting himself to participating in a simple summation of the various contributions, but aiming at the definition of a path of weaving and synthesis among the approaches distinct.

In this optic, in the evolutionary dynamics with an high rate of complexity and of the change, the interdisciplinary research is an extraordinary opportunity to bring out and investigate issues and perspectives that are not evident, but very often relevant to the management of complex problematics. Limiting oneself to addressing the research topics according to conventional logics, it is difficult and regardless of the will put in place, it will be possible to break the disciplinary framework and it will be unlikely and more and more, it will possible to go beyond the most evident aspects of manifestation of the problem.
